Hollywood actress Jennifer Aniston has opened up about why she has chosen not to adopt children despite her well-known struggles with infertility. Speaking on a recent episode of the Armchair Expert podcast on Wondery+, the Friends and The Morning Show star shared a deeply personal reflection on her decision and the peace she has found with it.
During the conversation, Aniston, 56, revealed that she went through in vitro fertilization (IVF) and has now reached a point in her life where she no longer thinks about pregnancy. The discussion arose after co-host Monica Padman talked about freezing her eggs and her own uncertainties about motherhood. When Padman asked Aniston if she had found peace with not having children, the actress replied, “It’s so peaceful. But I will say there’s a point where it’s out of my control. There’s literally nothing I can do about it.”
Aniston explained that while many people suggested adoption, it was never something she felt drawn to. “When people say, ‘But you can adopt,’ I don’t want to adopt. I want my own DNA in a little person. That’s the only way. Selfish or not, that’s what I’ve wanted,” she said honestly.
The actress admitted that the topic is still emotional for her, acknowledging moments when she has met people and briefly imagined what it would have been like to raise children with them — but those feelings fade quickly. “You romanticize it, but it just wasn’t in the plan — whatever the plan was,” Aniston added.
Aniston’s candidness about infertility and her decision not to adopt offers a rare glimpse into the private struggles many women face. Her honesty continues to inspire fans, showing that acceptance and peace can come even when life doesn’t go as planned.
