In a tragic incident, 19 people have died after a bomb exploded at a local tea joint in the Kawuri community, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State. The explosion, which happened on Wednesday, also left many residents injured.
The bomb is believed to have been planted by Boko Haram insurgents, who have been causing chaos in the North-East region of Nigeria. Similar attacks have happened recently, resulting in the deaths of several people, including seven Nigerian soldiers.
A government official confirmed the latest incident, stating that the bomb went off around 8:05 pm while villagers were gathered for a night chat. The injured have been taken to a hospital in Maiduguri for treatment.
This tragic event occurred just hours before planned nationwide protests over hunger in Nigeria. Youths across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have organized mass protests starting today, Thursday.
Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.
