The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) has commenced a nationwide strike, raising fresh concerns about possible fuel scarcity and price hikes. Oil marketers have expressed fear that the industrial action could disrupt the supply chain, leading to higher costs for petrol and other petroleum products across the country.
According to reports, the strike is linked to disputes between the oil workers’ union and management authorities over welfare and operational issues. With loading operations already affected in some depots, marketers are worried that the disruption could trigger panic buying and worsen Nigeria’s fuel supply challenges.
Many Nigerians are already anxious about the situation, fearing that a prolonged strike could push pump prices higher and deepen the economic burden on households. Stakeholders have urged the government and PENGASSAN to reach a quick resolution to prevent another round of fuel crises.
