Fubara Dissolves Rivers Pension Board Constituted By Ibas

Governor Siminalayi Fubara has dissolved the Rivers State Pension Board, which was set up during the tenure of the former Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd). The move is seen as part of the governor’s ongoing reforms to reposition the state’s institutions and ensure transparency in pension management.

The dissolution comes after increasing calls from stakeholders for a review of the board’s activities, especially regarding pension arrears and the welfare of retirees. Many pensioners had expressed frustration over unpaid benefits, a situation the government has promised to address.

Fubara assured that a new and more efficient board would soon be inaugurated to deliver better results. According to him, the decision reflects his administration’s commitment to accountability, service delivery, and ensuring that pensioners who dedicated their lives to public service receive their entitlements without unnecessary delay.
