Court Rejects Nnamdi Kanu’s No-Case Submission, Orders Him To Open Defence

A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the no-case submission filed by Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Kanu had urged the court to dismiss the charges against him, arguing that the prosecution had failed to establish any case linking him to the allegations. However, the court ruled that there was enough evidence for him to respond to and directed him to open his defence.

The decision marks a significant turn in the long-running trial, as Kanu will now be required to personally counter the charges brought against him. His legal team had hoped that the case would be struck out at this stage, but the court emphasized that justice demands he presents his defence before any final judgment can be considered.

This ruling has generated reactions among the public, especially supporters of the IPOB leader who have consistently called for his release. Legal analysts say the outcome of Kanu’s defence will play a major role in determining how the case proceeds and whether or not he secures eventual freedom.
