CAC To Deploy AI Agent As Company Registration Backlog Hits 7,000

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced plans to introduce an Artificial Intelligence (AI) agent to help clear the backlog of company registrations, which has now risen to over 7,000 pending applications. The commission explained that the delay was caused by increased demand for business registrations, limited manpower, and system inefficiencies.

According to the Registrar-General, the deployment of AI will speed up approvals, improve accuracy, and ensure a smoother process for applicants. He stressed that the innovation will not only tackle the current backlog but also prevent such delays in the future by automating several tasks that were previously handled manually.

The move has been welcomed by business owners and entrepreneurs, many of whom have faced long waiting periods to get their companies registered. Stakeholders believe the adoption of AI technology will make Nigeria’s business environment more attractive, reduce bottlenecks, and support economic growth.
