A U.S. Army MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment crashed during a training flight in Washington State, killing four soldiers. Officials confirmed the tragic accident.
The helicopter went down on September 17 during a routine training mission near Capitol Forest, west of Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington. Sadly, all four crew members lost their lives.
The crash sparked a small forest fire that covered about 0.4 hectares. Emergency response teams quickly moved to the scene to put out the fire and secure the area.
The U.S. Army has not yet released the names of the soldiers who died. Families are still being informed before their identities are made public.
This accident adds to other recent crashes linked to the same base. In 2023, a helicopter crash in the Eastern Mediterranean killed five soldiers, and in 2024, an Apache helicopter crash left two pilots injured.
The U.S. Army Special Operations Command has started an investigation to find out what caused the latest crash. More details will be shared when available.
