A photo has appeared showing Babaro, a well-known bandit leader, at a peace meeting on Sunday in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Security expert Zagazola Makama posted the picture on X, saying Babaro has been causing fear in the Kankara and Malumfashi regions.
According to Makama, Babaro is accused of leading the deadly attack on worshippers in Mantau, Malumfashi LGA. During the Isha prayers, 32 people were killed while many others were left injured.
Meanwhile, another analyst, Bakatsine, confirmed that people in Faskari and the bandits reached a peace deal on Sunday. The agreement includes forgiveness on both sides, allowing unarmed bandits into towns, ensuring safe farming and grazing, and releasing kidnapped victims without demanding ransom.
“Peace deal in Faskari LGA, Katsina State as residents and bandits agree on unarmed entry into town by bandits, safe farming/grazing, mutual forgiveness, captives freed without ransom. Notorious figures like Ado Aleru, Babaro and Kwashen-garwa attended,” Bakatsine wrote.
So far, the authorities have not made any official comments about the peace meeting or the participation of the bandit leaders.
