The wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, has encouraged teachers in the state to identify and develop the talents of schoolchildren.

She said teachers play an important role in shaping the future and urged them to show care and compassion while teaching, so they can raise responsible leaders for Abia State.

Mrs. Otti gave this advice in Umuahia on Friday during the distribution of learning materials to pupils. The event was the first phase of the Safe Tent back-to-school outreach for the 2025/2026 school year.

She described education as the foundation of growth and transformation. According to her, giving out the materials will help ensure that every child, including those from poor families, has equal access to learning.

The governor’s wife also explained that this outreach supports the free and compulsory education programme introduced earlier this year by her husband, Governor Alex Otti.

She assured that the project would spread to more parts of the state in the coming phases so that more children can benefit.

Mrs. Otti further encouraged parents and pupils to make good use of the items provided to build their talents. She also appreciated the partners who supported the programme.
