A 23-year-old woman from Karula in Moradabad reportedly put her 15-day-old baby inside a refrigerator. The shocking act is believed to be linked to her struggle with postpartum psychosis.

The incident happened on Friday, September 7. The mother reportedly became frustrated when the baby would not stop crying.

In her distressed state, she allegedly placed the newborn in the fridge and went to sleep, hoping to find some relief from the baby’s crying.

The baby’s cries were heard by the grandmother, who rushed to the kitchen and found the child inside the refrigerator. She quickly rescued him.

The infant was immediately taken to a doctor. Family members said the doctor confirmed that the baby was safe and stable.

The hospital did not release the mother’s identity, keeping her personal information private.

At first, the family believed that the woman was influenced by evil forces and attempted traditional rituals to help her.

When her condition did not improve, she was taken to Archna Raj Psychiatry and De-Addiction Centre. Psychiatrist Dr. Kartikeya Gupta diagnosed her with postpartum psychosis.

She is now receiving counseling and treatment to manage her mental health, according to her doctors.
