Woman Arrested for Attempting to Sell Her 3-Year-Old Daughter in Ogun State

In a shocking incident, the Ogun State Police Command arrested a 25-year-old woman, Yetunde Gbadebo, for attempting to sell her three-year-old daughter. The arrest took place on the morning of July 25, 2024, on Aladiye Street in Sagamu.

Gbadebo was caught negotiating with a 38-year-old man named Sunday None to sell her daughter for N700,000. A vigilant resident who witnessed the negotiation promptly alerted the police. Responding swiftly, officers from the Sagamu Police Division arrived at the scene and apprehended both suspects.

Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the police command, stated that Gbadebo denied the allegation. However, None confessed to the crime during interrogation. “The woman was about to sell her three-year-old daughter to another suspect. A resident who saw the two suspects negotiating the price approached our station in Sagamu to report what she saw. The Sagamu Police Division detached a team of detectives who stormed the scene and arrested the two suspects. The man has confessed to the crime,” Odutola said.

The case will be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation once preliminary findings are concluded. This incident highlights the importance of community vigilance and swift police action in preventing crimes against children.
