Floyd Mayweather and Mike Tyson to fight each other in blockbuster 2026 showdown

Legendary American boxers Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather are set to face each other in an exhibition fight in 2026.

Tyson, 59, revealed the news on Thursday, September 4, through his social media. He shared a poster showing half of his face and half of Mayweather’s with the words “Legend vs. Legend,” adding only the caption: “Coming Soon.”

The boxing icon admitted he was surprised Mayweather agreed to the bout. Speaking with TMZ Sports, Tyson said, “This fight is something I never thought could happen.

I still can’t believe Floyd really wants to do this,” adding that the fight could be dangerous for Mayweather.

Mayweather, who is nearly ten years younger, responded with confidence. “I’ve been in this sport for 30 years, and no one has ever damaged my legacy.

If I’m doing something, it’s going to be big and legendary. I’m the best in the boxing business, and this exhibition will give fans what they want,” he told TMZ Sports.

Because the event is an exhibition, Mayweather’s unbeaten 50-0 professional record will remain untouched even if Tyson wins.

This isn’t Tyson’s first comeback. In November 2024, he fought influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul and lost, marking his return after not competing in a professional match since 2005.

Mayweather last fought professionally in 2017, when he defeated UFC star Conor McGregor in one of boxing’s biggest pay-per-view events.
