Nigerian man and his Thai wife arrested for drug trafficking in Bangkok

A Nigerian man who entered Thailand illegally was arrested with his Thai wife for drug trafficking in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit area.

The couple, 33-year-old Ukwe Vincent Chisom and 30-year-old Ms. Kesini, were taken into custody at their condo on Sri Nakarin Road, located in Samrong Nuea subdistrict, Samut Prakan province, on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Their arrest came after a police investigation uncovered their involvement in drug trafficking activities within the Sukhumvit district.

Police from the Child and Women Welfare Division had been watching the couple, which led them to the suspects at their apartment.

During the raid, authorities confiscated 99 grams of cocaine (classified as Category 2 narcotics), three mobile phones, and other evidence. They also seized assets related to drug offenses worth more than 700,000 baht (around $21,660).

The suspects admitted to entering Thailand illegally through natural border points in Nong Khai province.

They confessed to buying drugs in Sukhumvit and distributing them in the Sri Nakarin area. The woman rented the condo and managed bank accounts used to receive money from drug sales.

Both are facing charges for jointly trafficking Category 2 narcotics without permission, which is considered a commercial crime that spreads drugs to the public.

Additionally, the Nigerian man faces extra charges for being in Thailand illegally as a foreign national.

The couple has been handed over to Samrong Nuea Police Station for further legal action.
