Lagos is no man’s land, It is the hub of Nigeria – Presidential aide, Daniel Bwala

Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, has explained why so many federal projects are focused on Lagos State. He described Lagos as a “no-man’s land” and the economic pride of Nigeria.

Speaking on Arise News on September 3, Bwala said the N3.9 trillion allocated to Lagos in federal projects over the last two years should not be seen as favoritism. Instead, it is a strategic investment in the country’s main commercial city.

Bwala pointed out that Lagos is unique. Even though the President comes from the South-West, he did not win Lagos in the last election, which shows how cosmopolitan and diverse the city is.

He added that Lagos is home to people from all over Nigeria, and many wealthy Nigerians have businesses there. He also noted that the richest man in Africa, who is from the North, runs his business in Lagos, highlighting the city’s national importance.

Bwala emphasized that while Lagos is located in the South-West, its population is so mixed that it reflects the whole country.

He compared Lagos to major cities around the world, saying it is normal for commercial hubs like London, New York, and Paris to receive more investments than other areas in their countries.

According to him, concentrating resources in Lagos helps boost Nigeria’s overall economy. Whatever benefits Lagos ultimately benefits the entire nation.

He concluded by saying that the focus on Lagos should be seen in context. Lagos is the heartbeat of Nigeria’s commerce, infrastructure, and growth, making it a source of pride for the country.
