The Ebonyi State Police have apprehended a man suspected of killing Dick Nnachi, a middle-aged resident of Oso-Edda community in Edda Local Government Area.

DSP Joshua Ukandu, the police spokesperson, confirmed the arrest to INFOLAND on Sunday, August 31, 2025. He stated that the suspect was linked to the violent act.

Ukandu added that the attack stemmed from a long-running land dispute between Oso-Edda and the neighboring Amasiri community in Afikpo Local Government Area, which has lasted for more than ten years.

He explained, “This incident is real. Our officers have been deployed to the area. The conflict has been ongoing for over a decade. The government is still working on officially marking the land, and all stakeholders have been advised to avoid the disputed zone.”

He concluded by saying that the situation in the community has stabilized for now, an arrest has been made, and police investigations are continuing.
