APC Is Doomed To Face Inevitable Rejection In 2027 – PDP Governors Declare

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has predicted that Nigerians will turn against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement released on Saturday after their meeting in Gusau, Zamfara State, PDP governors emphasized their commitment to saving Nigerians from what they described as the APC’s divisive governance, which they say has increased hardship across the country.

Despite some members leaving the party, the PDP continues to appeal to Nigerians to support its vision.

During the meeting, the governors discussed various issues, including the country’s security challenges, the decline of democratic values, and strategies to strengthen the PDP and prepare for the upcoming national convention.

They praised party supporters for remaining loyal, even amid significant intimidation and what they call undemocratic actions by the APC during recent by-elections.

The forum accused the by-elections in certain states of being overly militarized and marred by vote buying, violence, and other irregularities.

“The resilience of PDP leaders and members in handling orchestrated defections shows that such issues cannot weaken the party’s strong grassroots support or the public desire for affordable living and better security, which were hallmarks of previous PDP administrations,” the statement said.

The governors encouraged party members and citizens to stay true to the PDP’s vision, despite increasing opposition pressures. They claimed that the APC’s desperation highlights its lack of agenda or vision and predicted its inevitable rejection by the people.

They reiterated their backing for the PDP’s national convention in November and called on members to resist any attempts to disrupt the event by anti-party forces.

The governors urged Nigerians to view the PDP as the only democratic and credible option for returning the country to good governance and progress.

On national security, the forum condemned ongoing mass killings in Katsina, Plateau, Niger, Benue, and other states, urging the federal government to better protect citizens and their property.

The meeting was attended by governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), and Ademola Adeleke (Osun).
