Father of four commits su!cide over financial hardship in Imo

A 50-year-old man identified as Odomma has sadly ended his life in Amakpu Okuku, Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State. He was said to be struggling financially and could no longer provide for his wife and four children.

Residents of the community were thrown into shock when they found his body hanging in an unfinished building close to his house on Thursday, August 22.

Locals revealed that Odomma had earlier threatened to take his own life. About three months ago, he reportedly complained that his wife and children stopped giving him food because he could no longer provide for the family.

A villager named Ikenna explained that Odomma had shared his pains with some friends. According to him, the deceased once said that if things did not improve, he would end his life. They advised him to take the matter to the village head for settlement, but he did not. Ikenna added that he could have sold his GP tank or generator to buy food instead of choosing death.

Community members described Odomma as a hardworking man who sold water for as little as ₦100, but many admitted that he had been looking sad and depressed in recent months before his tragic end.
