Veteran politician Buba Galadima, a top figure in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has spoken about the dangers of being honest in Nigerian politics.
In an interview on Channels Television, Galadima shared his experience of over 40 years in politics, explaining that speaking the truth often brings personal and political challenges.
He described himself as “the worst man” in Nigeria’s political space—not because of wrongdoing, but because the system does not tolerate outspoken people like him.
Galadima stressed that leaders who dare to tell the truth are usually sidelined and denied opportunities to serve in key positions.
He also revealed a personal story about his daughter, who won a councillor seat but was denied her rightful benefits simply because of her connection to him.
According to Galadima, this is proof of how unfair and vindictive Nigerian politics can be, where people are punished not for their actions, but for who they are linked to.
