RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons is very close to completing a move to Chelsea once his team’s Bundesliga opener against Bayern Munich on Friday is over.

Reports from Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg say that the Dutch midfielder will play in the Bayern clash before finishing his transfer to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea are in a strong position to land the 22-year-old, with the chances of completing the deal described as very high.

Simons has already agreed to personal terms with Chelsea and has made it clear he only wants the move. The final step is for Chelsea and RB Leipzig to reach an agreement.

Although Manchester City have also shown interest in signing him, Simons is focused on joining Chelsea.

The attacking midfielder has previously played for PSV Eindhoven and Paris Saint-Germain, gaining experience across Europe before shining in Germany.
