Kamala Harris Breaks Fundraising Records in First Day of Presidential Campaign

Kamala Harris, the current US Vice President, raised an astonishing $81 million in just 24 hours after announcing her presidential bid. This impressive amount was collected right after President Biden declared he would not run for reelection and endorsed Harris.

According to her campaign, over 880,000 donors contributed to Harris’ campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and joint fundraising committees. Kevin Munoz, a spokesperson for Harris’ campaign, highlighted the significance of this achievement, stating that the widespread support demonstrates the grassroots energy and enthusiasm necessary to win elections.

Munoz also mentioned that former President Donald Trump is worried because Harris’ vision and record are strong enough to challenge his agenda. The $81 million raised is the largest 24-hour fundraising amount reported by any candidate in the 2024 campaign.

Previously, the Biden-Harris ticket had raised $296 million by June 30, according to the Federal Election Commission, while Trump had raised $221 million.

Speaking to her campaign staff in Wilmington, Delaware, Harris acknowledged the recent challenges but expressed confidence in her new campaign team. She emphasized her commitment to earning the nomination and winning the election, aiming to unite the Democratic Party and the nation.
