Army sergeant who opened fire at American military base and wounded five fellow soldiers was subdued by quick-thinking colleagues

An Army sergeant who allegedly shot five other soldiers at Fort Stewart in Georgia was quickly stopped by fellow troops who acted fast during the chaos.

Brigadier General John Lubas praised the soldiers who stepped in, saying they tackled the shooter immediately, preventing more harm.

The shooter was identified as 28-year-old Sergeant Quornelius Radford. He is accused of using his personal handgun to carry out the attack at his workplace on the base. Investigators are still trying to figure out why he did it. Radford has already been questioned.

Five soldiers were hurt in the shooting. Three needed surgery, but all of them are now stable and expected to survive.

General Lubas mentioned that Radford had not been deployed to any combat zone before, and he had no history of trouble in the Army. He worked as a Logistics Sergeant in the 2nd Brigade Combat Team.

Officials are still investigating how Radford managed to bring a personal firearm into his duty station. Despite this incident, Lubas said they are confident in the base’s safety measures.

Investigators later found out that Radford had been arrested for DUI in May. However, his supervisors didn’t know about it until they started looking into the recent shooting.

Radford is currently being held while military legal teams decide what charges he will face.
