Olakunle, 30, was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command on charges of defamation and sexual abuse of a child in Kings Avenue, Ojodu Abiodun, within the Ifo Local Government Area. According to Punch, the girl’s mother noticed her daughter taking longer than usual when running errands in the neighborhood.

Concerned, she decided to monitor her daughter’s movements. On Friday, July 19, 2024, she inquired about her daughter’s whereabouts with the school while at work, but learned that her daughter was not there. She rushed home and found her daughter, who eventually confessed that Olakunle had lured her into his apartment twice, on June 8 and July 11, for sexual purposes.

Upon receiving this information, the police from the Ojodu Abiodun Division promptly arrested Olakunle at his residence.

SP Omolola Odutola, the command spokeswoman, confirmed the incident on Monday, stating that the girl underwent a medical evaluation.

The girl was taken to the Mirabel Center at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for examination and reporting.

The case will be transferred to the Government Criminal Inquiry Department in Eleweeran Abeokuta for further investigation.
