The Plateau State branch of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has expressed deep concern over renewed violence targeting herders and their livestock.
The group claims that 18 cows belonging to its members were recently gunned down in Howl, a community in Bokkos Local Government Area. The killings reportedly happened within the past week and have raised fears among cattle owners in the area.
In a statement released on Monday, MACBAN State Chairman, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, also alleged that at least 130 cows were stolen during the same period. He said the rustling took place in various parts of the state and was allegedly carried out by some local residents.
The association is now urging the government to act quickly by improving security and investigating the incidents. They also want steps taken to recover the stolen animals and ensure those responsible are held accountable.
