Cristian Totti, the son of famous Italian footballer Francesco Totti, has decided to stop playing football at just 19 years old.
According to the Spanish newspaper As, Cristian’s choice to leave football came from feeling overwhelmed by constant comparisons to his father. He also faced harsh online comments about his looks.
Cristian had played as a forward for several clubs including Roma, Frosinone, Rayo Vallecano, Avezzano, and Olbia. But he has now left the pitch and taken up a new role at the Totti Soccer School, where he hopes to help train and guide young football talents.
Even though many believed he had talent, Cristian struggled with the pressure of being Francesco Totti’s son. The heavy expectations and online bullying made continuing his football journey too difficult. He now wants to stay involved in the sport, but in a way that keeps him out of the spotlight.
His father, Francesco Totti, had an amazing football career with AS Roma. He spent his whole professional life at the club and won several major trophies including the Serie A title, two Coppa Italia titles, and two Supercoppa Italiana trophies.
Totti is remembered as a top goal scorer in Italy’s football history, with 250 goals in the Italian league and 316 goals overall, making him one of Italy’s all-time greats.
