Python, other dangerous wild animals found in ex-AGF’s home in Kano

A large snake, a crocodile, and a young wild animal were removed from the home of Ahmed Idris, the former Accountant General of the Federation, and taken to the Kano Zoo.

It was reported that the python had escaped from his home, causing fear in nearby places like Daneji, Mandawari, and Kabara in Kano State.

Sadik Kura Muhammad, who is the head of the Kano Zoo, told a local radio station that the animals have now been safely moved to the zoo.

He said Mr. Idris gave the animals to the zoo on his own after the community became worried about them. The zoo now has full control over the python, crocodile, and the cub.

The zoo boss explained that Mr. Idris has the proper legal papers to keep wild animals. He also said that the animals were not dangerous at the time they were taken.

He added that there is a law in Nigeria that allows people to own some wild animals. These can include animals that are either rare or common.

But for animals that are at risk of going extinct, like parrots and vultures, the law says they should only be kept in zoos. This is to help protect them and increase their numbers, not for people to keep as pets.
