Liverpool Football Club has completed the signing of French striker Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. The Premier League champions paid £79 million for the forward, making this one of their biggest summer deals.
Out of the total amount, Liverpool will pay £69 million right away, with another £10 million based on performance bonuses. This transfer pushes Liverpool’s total spending this summer to nearly £300 million.
Ekitike is expected to join the rest of the squad in Hong Kong within the next 48 hours. He’ll take part in training ahead of Liverpool’s upcoming friendly match against AC Milan.
In a statement, Liverpool confirmed that the deal with Frankfurt is complete and only awaiting international clearance. The club shared that Ekitike has already passed his medical tests and agreed on personal terms, which allowed him to travel for their pre-season tour in Asia.
This latest signing makes Ekitike Liverpool’s seventh new player this transfer window. He joins Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, and goalkeepers Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi, and Freddie Woodman.
Ekitike had an impressive season at Frankfurt, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists. His strong performance helped the club qualify for the Champions League. Though he usually plays as a central striker, Liverpool sees him as a flexible player who can also support from wide positions or as a second striker.
With this signing, Liverpool has shown their clear intention to strengthen their squad and stay ahead in both domestic and European competitions.
