A group called the Plateau State Muslim Indigenes (PSMI) has complained about how Governor Caleb Mutfwang is handling recent attacks in the state. They believe the Governor is treating some people better than others during these crises.
The group’s Secretary General, Alhaji Kabiru Gwamlar, said on Monday that they are worried about the Governor’s silence regarding serious attacks in Wase and Kanam areas. Reports say over 70 local vigilantes were killed and many villages were destroyed, yet the state government did not speak up strongly.
The Muslim Indigenes also said Governor Mutfwang has not visited the Muslim communities that were attacked. They feel ignored because he didn’t come to show concern or send words of comfort to the families who lost loved ones.
Gwamlar asked why the Governor quickly reacts when Christians are attacked but is slow or not serious when Muslims are affected. He said the Governor’s statements about Muslim victims are often late and lack real care.
He reminded the Governor about his promise to protect every citizen of Plateau, no matter their tribe or religion. Gwamlar called on him to treat all people in the state equally.
He also disagreed with the idea that Plateau is a Christian-only state. According to him, Nigeria is a country where people of all faiths—Muslims, Christians, and traditional believers—should be free to live and worship anywhere.
Lastly, Gwamlar praised former Governor Simon Lalong for treating Muslims fairly. He urged Governor Mutfwang to follow Lalong’s example and make sure no one feels left out in the state.
