Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is close to making a move to Spanish club Barcelona after their new manager, Hansi Flick, gave his approval for the transfer.
This news was shared by trusted football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. He posted the update on his X account (formerly Twitter) on Saturday morning.
Romano revealed that Barcelona officially sent an offer to Manchester United on Saturday to sign Rashford.
He explained that the club held an internal meeting in the past 24 hours. During the meeting, they decided not to continue with their interest in Liverpool’s Luis Diaz because of the high cost. Instead, they focused on Rashford, believing he would be a better option.
According to Romano, the transfer deal is moving forward smoothly and has already been approved by Barcelona coach Hansi Flick.
Barcelona has made direct contact with Manchester United to begin talks for Rashford’s transfer.
Reports say the deal being discussed is a loan move with an option for Barcelona to buy him permanently later.
Rashford has reportedly wanted to join Barcelona since January. He sees playing for the Spanish club as a dream come true.
The England international is likely to leave Manchester United this summer. He fell out of favour under new manager Ruben Amorim and spent the last six months on loan at Aston Villa.
