The former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu, has spoken out strongly against the new opposition coalition formed ahead of the 2027 elections. He labelled them as enemies of Nigeria who are only interested in pulling the country backward rather than helping it move forward.
While speaking during an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday, July 2, Kachikwu expressed his displeasure with the political group. He was especially upset that this new alliance had chosen the ADC as its base for future elections.
According to Kachikwu, it’s frustrating to see the same old leaders being brought back into politics. He believes these individuals are the very reason Nigeria is facing so many problems today.
“These same leaders have ruled Nigeria for over 40 years,” he said. “Look at where we are — 80 percent of Nigerians are living in poverty. And now, the same people who caused these problems are acting like they’re the solution.”
Kachikwu also criticised the coalition for being filled with older politicians. He pointed out that the youth are being ignored while those who have always been in power continue to hold on tightly to leadership positions.
