Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has come out with claims that Peter Obi begged him back in 2018 to help him become Atiku Abubakar’s vice-presidential candidate.

He said that Peter Obi sent him an email on Monday, October 8, 2018, at exactly 6:13 PM. Just four days after, Obi was officially announced as Atiku’s running mate on Friday, October 12, 2018.

Reno stated that he’s sharing this email to prove he didn’t lie. According to him, his only reason for publishing the message is because someone close to Peter Obi went on a podcast and called him a liar.

He insists that everything he said in a recent interview is true and that he has proof to back it up. He added that if Peter Obi claims the email is fake or was generated by AI, he is ready to release even more serious evidence.

Although he said he doesn’t want things to get messy, he felt the need to clear his name after being insulted publicly. He explained that if it weren’t for being called a liar, he would never have made the email public.

Reno also pointed out that he is someone who keeps records carefully, and this situation is no different.

Earlier, he posted online that he had no choice but to release the email because Obi’s supporter claimed he lied. Reno said Peter Obi sent him his CV and kept calling him without being asked, asking for help to be chosen as Atiku’s running mate.

He promised to publish the full proof by 8:30 PM Nigerian time, standing by his claim and stressing once again that all he wants is to show that he told the truth.
