British TV presenter, Piers Morgan, has called on former U.S. President Donald Trump to speak to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about ending the war in Gaza.
Morgan shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday. He wrote, “President @realDonaldTrump, now is the time for you to tell @netanyahu to end this terrible war in Gaza and stop the daily killing of civilians.”
He added that Trump, as someone who dislikes war, is in a good position to help stop the conflict. “Only you can do this, and as your friend, who knows you hate war, I urge you to,” Morgan tweeted.
His message came after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that they had killed one of the founders of the Hamas group in a joint operation with the Israel Security Agency (ISA).
The IDF said that Hakham Muhammad Issa Al-Issa, a senior Hamas military leader, was killed during an airstrike in the Sabra area of Gaza City last Friday.
Meanwhile, Netanyahu is facing pressure from different groups in Israel. Some opposition politicians, families of hostages, and even members of his own party are urging him to stop the fighting. These calls for peace increased after the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas.
Trump recently said that some progress is being made toward stopping the war. A new ceasefire effort is being worked on, more than 20 months after the conflict began.
