Kylian Mbappé accuses former club PSG of ‘Moral Harassment’ in new lawsuit

Kylian Mbappé has filed a lawsuit against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), accusing the club of moral harassment and claiming it owes him €55 million in unpaid wages.

The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed the legal filing on Thursday. Mbappé, now playing for Real Madrid, says PSG mistreated him, especially after he told the club in 2023 that he wouldn’t extend his contract.

According to the lawsuit, Mbappé was subjected to “lofting,” a practice in which players are excluded from the main squad for various reasons. He was left out of PSG’s preseason tour to Japan and South Korea and was forced to train with less important players. He also missed the first game of the 2023-24 Ligue 1 season, but he was later reinstated after further discussions.

Mbappé joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2024 on a free transfer, ending his time at PSG with a club-record 256 goals. His final months with PSG were filled with tension, and some fans even booed him during his last home match at Parc des Princes.

In 2022, PSG offered Mbappé the most lucrative contract in the club’s history, unveiling him to fans with a jersey that said “2025.” However, the deal only lasted until 2024, with an option for a one-year extension. Mbappé became frustrated with unmet promises, especially regarding new player signings.

In June 2023, Mbappé told PSG he would not activate the extension. This forced the club to decide whether to sell him or risk losing him for free. PSG tried to sell Mbappé, accepting a €300 million offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal, but he rejected the deal.

Mbappé’s legal team first announced their intention to sue PSG in April, citing the club’s treatment of him during the transfer standoff.

Despite the tensions, PSG went on to win the Champions League without Mbappé, while he was officially introduced as a Real Madrid player in July 2024 at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
