2027: Forget Re-Election If You Can’t Address Hunger, Ohanaeze To Tinubu

The top Igbo cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has warned President Bola Tinubu that he might not get a second term in 2027 if he doesn’t take urgent steps to fix Nigeria’s economic problems. They said Nigerians are suffering badly and are now more aware of who they vote for.

In a statement made in Abakaliki, the group’s Deputy President, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said people are going through serious hardship. He added that if the government continues to ignore these problems, voters might show their anger at the polls in 2027.

He warned that if the government doesn’t take warnings about hunger, poverty, and rising insecurity seriously, it could lead to big problems for the country and the President’s future.

Isiguzoro said Tinubu must face the reality of worsening living conditions in Nigeria. However, he believes there’s still time to make changes that can help the people and the country.

In the statement, Ohanaeze said the APC, Tinubu’s party, is in a difficult position ahead of the 2027 elections. The group feels the need to speak up now, as citizens are deeply suffering.

They warned that the hunger, insecurity, and poverty affecting people will make it hard for state governors to win support for Tinubu. Some governors, according to the group, are giving false hope to the President, pretending they can deliver votes while living in denial.

The group also warned that some northern governors might not support Tinubu in 2027. They might appear loyal but work secretly against him.

Ohanaeze advised the President to rebuild people’s trust by seriously working on the hunger, poverty, and insecurity issues. If he doesn’t, his 2027 campaign may fail.

They explained that Nigerians are struggling with high food prices, high cost of living, rising electricity bills, and poor access to hospitals and houses. These issues will make it hard for anyone to campaign successfully.

The group also warned that northern governors might turn their backs on Tinubu, listening more to their people than to the President. At the same time, southern governors might focus only on their own survival and not support Tinubu fully.

Ohanaeze called on Tinubu to take bold steps: reduce electricity prices, change his economic advisers, stop wasting money, and invest more in farming and infrastructure.

They said Tinubu should learn from young African leaders like Captain Toure of Burkina Faso, who is helping his country by supporting farmers and ensuring food production.

In the end, Ohanaeze said the current situation cannot continue. If Tinubu doesn’t act fast and solve these big problems, he risks losing everything politically in 2027.
