Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is not asking for a huge salary to join Manchester United. According to him, Osimhen is fine with earning less than £200,000 per week, unlike reports claiming he wants £300,000 weekly.
There were earlier rumours that Manchester United’s owners were not willing to meet Osimhen’s high salary demands. But Romano’s latest statement suggests those reports were wrong.
In an interview with Givemesport, Romano said the Napoli striker is not asking for anything new. He just wants to continue earning what he currently makes — around €12 million (about £10.2 million) per year.
This lower wage could make it easier for Manchester United to go after Osimhen. For context, Mason Mount earns £250,000 per week at Old Trafford, which is more than what Osimhen is asking.
Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli after a strong season on loan at Galatasaray. He scored 37 goals and provided eight assists in 41 matches across all competitions.
Despite receiving a huge offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal worth £30 million a year, Osimhen turned it down. He wants to keep playing in Europe rather than move to Saudi Arabia.
Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand believes this decision means Osimhen is likely waiting for a move to Old Trafford. Ferdinand said in a YouTube video that rejecting the Saudi deal shows the striker may be holding out for United — but also admitted that the club’s interest is still not confirmed.
