Super Falcons arrive Portugal for pre-WAFCON friendly

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have arrived in Portugal as they begin their final preparations for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). The Nigerian women’s football team will take on Portugal in a friendly match meant to sharpen their form ahead of the tournament.

According to Daily Post, the team landed in Lisbon on Sunday night with ten players and members of the coaching staff ready to hit the ground running.

Among those who arrived was Omorinsola Babajide, a talented forward who previously played for Atlético Madrid. She linked up with the team shortly after their arrival in the Portuguese capital.

While the team is not yet complete, thirteen more players are expected to join them soon in Lisbon, bringing the squad to full strength.

Tonight’s match will be played at the Estádio José Gomes, located in the Amadora area of Lisbon. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. Nigerian time, which is the same as Portugal’s local time.

After the game against Portugal, the Super Falcons will face another challenge as they take on Ghana in a second friendly match this Friday. These back-to-back matches are part of the team’s warm-up plans for the upcoming WAFCON competition.

The players and technical crew are focused on putting up a strong performance and building team chemistry as they prepare to make Nigeria proud on the continental stage.
