I’m benefitting from what I was trolled for – Rema

Popular Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Rema, has opened up about how online trolls have ended up helping his music career.

In a video shared on social media, Rema explained that he actually likes being trolled sometimes because of the unexpected benefits it brings.

While talking about how far he has come in music, Rema said the negative comments and mockery he faced online didn’t break him. Instead, it pushed him forward and helped him grow globally.

Rema added that people once doubted his unique style of music. He said things would’ve gone badly if he had let their words stop him from doing what he loved.

He said, “It feels amazing to now gain from the same things people once made fun of. Imagine if I had given up and tried to change who I was just to please people. But I didn’t stop.”

He went on to say that after four years, everything finally worked out. His style paid off, and more good things are still coming. Rema proudly mentioned that he was the first Afrobeats artist to tour India—and possibly the first African artist too—which he sees as a big achievement.
