Minister of aviation Festus Keyamo directs aviation agencies to probe incident involving Air Peace and Oshiomhole

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has asked aviation agencies to look into a recent problem between Air Peace airline and Senator Adams Oshiomhole. The disagreement happened at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos.

The directive came on Friday, June 13, after a public clash that happened on Wednesday, June 11. Air Peace claimed that Senator Oshiomhole caused trouble at the airport after missing his flight. The senator represents Edo North.

Videos that spread on social media showed Senator Oshiomhole talking to an airport staff member and then sitting on the ground in protest at Zulu Hall, which is in Terminal 1 of the airport.

Senator Oshiomhole denied doing anything wrong. He said the real issue was that Air Peace tried to force passengers to pay extra, even though some of them had already checked in online.

In response, Air Peace released a strong statement, calling Oshiomhole’s claims false. The airline said that no one was asked to pay extra after the check-in deadline had passed.

Keyamo said he has spoken with both parties directly since the day of the incident. He urged them to avoid making more public accusations while investigations are ongoing.

He said, “Since Wednesday morning, I’ve been in touch with both Air Peace and Senator Oshiomhole. I’ve asked them to calm down and stop blaming each other publicly.”

The minister also told aviation agencies to gather all the facts, check all the available evidence, and report back to him. He wants the matter handled in a way that helps prevent similar problems in the future.

Lastly, Keyamo warned aviation officers not to rush to any conclusion. He said they must follow the right procedures and give everyone involved a fair chance to speak before any decision is made.
