US: Senator Padilla bundled out of Trump’s security chief’s new conference

California Senator Alex Padilla was removed from a press conference held by Homeland Security Chief Kristi Noem, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump.

The event has added more tension to the already heated debate over recent immigration arrests.

The incident took place at a federal building in Los Angeles. Padilla tried to ask questions about immigration actions affecting the city, but he was physically removed from the room.

As he said, “I’m Senator Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary,” two men grabbed him and forced him back in front of reporters.

His team posted a video on social media showing him being pushed to the ground by FBI agents just outside the press room.

The Department of Homeland Security later claimed that Padilla had moved aggressively toward Secretary Noem during the conference.

Officials said Padilla didn’t follow strict security rules, like wearing his Senate ID pin or properly introducing himself.

Trisha McLaughlin, an Assistant Secretary, defended the FBI’s actions. She said agents thought Padilla was a threat and acted quickly.

After things calmed down, Padilla and Secretary Noem reportedly spoke privately for about 15 minutes.

However, Noem later said Padilla’s behavior was “inappropriate” and claimed he never asked to meet with her before the event.

California Governor Gavin Newsom called what happened “outrageous, dictatorial, and shameful.”

He blamed former President Trump and his security agents, describing them as “shock troops” and saying their actions were out of control. Newsom added, “This must end now.”
