Harris Yulin, a famous American actor with a long career in movies, television, and theater, has died.
He passed away from cardiac arrest in New York City on Tuesday, June 10. He was 87 years old.
A memorial service will be held later, though the date has not been shared yet, according to his representative.
His family said he belonged to a generation of actors who truly loved the art of acting. They described his deep passion and lifelong dedication, saying it led to powerful performances that touched audiences, fellow actors, and the craft itself.
They also mentioned that he loved birdwatching and spending time by the sea.
Harris Yulin was well known for his roles in classic films like Scarface (1983), Ghostbusters II (1989), and Looking for Richard (1996). He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 1996 for appearing in Frasier and was also part of the Ozark cast, which earned a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination in 2019. More recently, he acted in shows like Veep, The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and And Just Like That…
He lost his daughter, actress Claire Lucido, before his passing. His second wife Kristen Lowman, son-in-law Ted Mineo, nephew Martin Crane, and godchildren Marco and Lara Greenberg are among his surviving family members.
His family also shared that Harris was preparing to start filming a new MGM+ series called American Classic, directed by Michael Hoffman. He was set to star with Kevin Kline, Laura Linney, and Jon Tenney. They said Harris was excited to take on the role and full of energy as he looked forward to working with Hoffman again. He had worked with him before on the 2005 film Game 6.
Harris had been married to actress Gwen Welles until her death in 1993. He also dated actress Faye Dunaway, who acted alongside him in the 1971 Western film Doc, where he played Wyatt Earp.
