Give us money, ignore critics – Umahi begs Tinubu

David Umahi, Nigeria’s Minister of Works, has asked President Bola Tinubu to give more money for important road and infrastructure projects. He told the President not to listen to people who criticize these projects but to support them fully.

Umahi made this request during the official opening of the Deep Sea Port Access Road in Lagos on Thursday. He said the project is supported by international experts who think it is actually worth more than the amount spent on it.

The Minister explained, “Sir, the international financiers have praised this project because they believe it is undervalued.” He encouraged President Tinubu to ignore negative comments and provide more funds, promising that the projects will be completed on time.

He also spoke about how complex it is to build the Deep Sea Port Access Road. Some people have questioned the cost, saying it might be too high or involve corruption. But Umahi disagreed with these claims.

He said, “When people speak without proper knowledge… I am a professional engineer and understand the work and the costs very well.”

Umahi thanked President Tinubu for commissioning the first 30 kilometers of the road and assured that this section will be finished by December. He also said that tolls will start soon and the second part of the road will almost be done. He praised the contractor for doing a good job.

In summary, Minister Umahi is urging President Tinubu to keep supporting these important projects with enough funds and to not be influenced by critics who don’t understand the details.
