Amaechi can’t stay out power, joined Atiku, El-Rufai because he’s hungry – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to some recent statements made by Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State. Amaechi had made comments about the current administration led by President Bola Tinubu.

Wike said Amaechi was not honest when he spoke about hunger in Nigeria during his 60th birthday event. He accused Amaechi of using the celebration to share false information with Nigerians.

Wike made these remarks on Monday during his monthly media chat held in Abuja.

He said Amaechi doesn’t really care about hunger but is just desperate to return to power. Wike believes that Amaechi is only speaking out now because he wants to be relevant again in politics.

Wike wondered why someone would choose a day meant for celebration, like their birthday, to spread lies. He said it was wrong for Amaechi to do that while people were trying to honor him.

He reminded the public that Amaechi was the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2007. Wike said during that time, Amaechi was seen as very proud and even stayed in London while holding office.

Wike also said Amaechi was the governor of Rivers State from 2007 to 2015 and yet never mentioned hunger throughout those years. He questioned why Amaechi never brought up the issue when he had the chance to act.

According to Wike, Amaechi also served as a minister for eight years. But now, two years after leaving that position, he is suddenly talking about hunger in the country. Wike said this shows Amaechi’s real concern is about losing power, not the suffering of the people.

Wike added that Amaechi joined Atiku Abubakar and Nasir El-Rufai simply because he wants to get back into a powerful position. He doesn’t believe Amaechi is serious about helping Nigerians.

He ended by saying Amaechi cannot stay away from government and is pretending to care about the country just to find a way back into power.
