A mysterious disease has struck the Chessi community in the Kulani District of Balanga Local Government Area in Gombe State, resulting in the deaths of 12 people and the hospitalization of more than 50 others, as reported by Daily Trust.

Doctors Dr. Israel James and Yakubu Maina have stated that the illness is not cholera. They have collected blood and water samples to identify the disease. Currently, over 30 patients are bedridden, suffering from severe headaches, high fever, jaundice, and stomach pain.

Medical experts have advised community members to report any unusual symptoms to the health centre set up at Chessi Primary School.

In response to the outbreak, Alhaji Musa Buba, who represents Balanga North Constituency at the Gombe State House of Assembly, has donated drugs and consumables worth over 1.5 million naira to the Chessi community. He thanked Governor Inuwa Yahaya for sending a delegation from the Ministry of Health and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

Patients like Habiba Salisu, Aisha Mohammed, and Mohammed Sulaiman have expressed their gratitude to Hon. Musa Buba for providing the much-needed medical supplies.
