‘I don’t want to be like Labour Party members, they’re disobedient’ – Umahi

David Umahi, Nigeria’s Minister of Works, has spoken strongly against the Labour Party and its supporters. Most of these supporters back Peter Obi, who ran for president in 2023 under the party.

He made these remarks during a press event in Abuja, where he talked about the achievements of his ministry so far.

During the briefing, Umahi said he doesn’t want to behave like members of the Labour Party, whom he described as disobedient. He praised the people working in his ministry and especially gave credit to President Bola Tinubu.

“I don’t want to be disobedient like Labour Party members,” Umahi said. He went on to thank his Minister of State, the Permanent Secretary, and the directors of his ministry. He also said that President Tinubu deserved the most praise.

Earlier in his speech, Umahi highlighted the start of the Sokoto-Badagry road project. He said this plan was first introduced by former President Shehu Shagari 47 years ago.

He called it a good development and explained that the road was originally planned to run from Badagry to Sokoto. However, President Tinubu asked them to begin the project from Sokoto instead, showing his fairness to all regions.

Umahi, who was the last governor of Ebonyi State, said that it takes a brave and visionary leader to take on such a big project.

He also commended President Tinubu’s efforts and performance since he took office in May 2023.
