Two education workers from Damboa lost their lives on Monday in a tragic bomb blast that happened on the Damboa–Maiduguri road in Borno State.

According to local reports from Zagazola Makama, the victims were identified as Blessings Luka and Gideon Bitterleaf. They were traveling from Damboa to Maiduguri when the incident took place.

Eyewitnesses said the two officials were sitting in the front of a Toyota Hiace van carrying mangoes. The van ran over a hidden explosive device, which is believed to have been planted by insurgents.

The blast killed both workers instantly. Some other people in the van also suffered injuries from the explosion.

An official from the Damboa Local Government confirmed the names of the victims. He described them as loyal and hardworking individuals who were committed to improving education in their community.

Security agents quickly blocked off the area to prevent further danger. They are currently investigating to find out who is behind the deadly attack.
