2025 AMVCA 11 Awards (Live Updates)

The 2025 AMVCA (Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards) is recognizing excellence in film, television, and digital media. The awards celebrate productions released between January 1 and December 31, 2024.

This year’s standout nominees include Lisabi: The Uprising, Skeleton Coast, House of Ga’a, and Freedom Way. These films received multiple nominations, competing in prestigious categories like Best Movie and Best Director.

The Best Lead Actor category features talented names such as Gideon Okeke (Tokunbo), Stan Nze (Suspicion), Femi Adebayo (Seven Doors), and Adedimeji Lateef (Lisabi: The Uprising). On the other hand, Chioma Chukwuka (Seven Doors), Bimbo Ademoye (Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre), and Uche Montana (Thinline) are among the contenders for Best Lead Actress.

Nominees in the Best Digital Content Creator category include Iyo Prosper Adokiye, Maryam Apakagi-Greene, and Elozonam Ogbolu, among others. They represent outstanding creators in the digital space.

Other notable categories include Best Multichoice Talent Factory Movie, featuring Gone (West Africa) and Mwananga (Southern Africa), and Best Indigenous Language Films, with entries like Seven Doors and Walvis Tale. For Best Short Film, nominees include Sukari and In Bloom: Afefe.

For Best Supporting Actress, nominees include Meg Otanwa (Inside Life) and Mercy Aigbe (Farmer’s Bride). Meanwhile, Gabriel Afolayan (Inside Life) and Femi Jacobs (Freedom Way) are among the Best Supporting Actor contenders.

Awards for editing, cinematography, sound design, and costume design recognize the behind-the-scenes brilliance in African filmmaking. Notable nominations include Lisabi: The Uprising and Skeleton Coast.

The Best Writing categories feature exceptional storytelling, with nominees like Seven Doors and House of Ga’a. In Best Director, Robert O. Peters (Skeleton Coast) and Bolanle Austen-Peters (House of Ga’a) are among the frontrunners.

The top honor, Best Movie, will go to one of the standout productions, with nominees such as Lisabi: The Uprising, House of Ga’a, and Freedom Way.
