UCL: Mbappe’s departure from PSG a shame – Luis Enrique

Paris Saint-Germain’s head coach, Luis Enrique, has shared his thoughts on Kylian Mbappé’s exit from the team. He said it was a sad moment for the club.

Enrique spoke after PSG’s 2-1 win over Arsenal in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.

He also said he believes PSG is now a stronger team than when Mbappé was still part of the squad.

Mbappé left the French club last summer to join Real Madrid without a transfer fee.

The PSG boss explained that he had been confident last season when he said the team would be better without Mbappé. Now, he feels he was right, as the team’s recent performance and stats back him up.

Even though he called Mbappé’s departure a shame, Enrique praised the rest of the players for stepping up and seeing it as a challenge to improve.

He added that he would have liked to keep Mbappé, but he’s happy with how the current team is playing. He prefers having several players scoring around 12 goals each instead of depending on one player to score 40 goals.

PSG will now play against Inter Milan in the Champions League final on May 31.
