Michelle Obama admits she’s in therapy as she goes through life-changing ‘transition’

Michelle Obama, the former First Lady of the United States, recently revealed that she is currently in therapy. She says it’s helping her prepare for the next chapter in her life.

Michelle talked about this during her appearance on The Jay Shetty Podcast, where she was joined by her brother, Craig Robinson.

While speaking on the podcast, Michelle also addressed and denied the rumors that she and her husband, former President Barack Obama, are heading for a divorce.

She spoke about the challenges of being an “empty nester,” now that her daughters are grown and living independently. Michelle said she’s getting some support through therapy as she approaches her 60s.

“In this part of my life, I’m in therapy because I’m going through changes,” she explained. “I’m 60 now, my daughters are grown, and we’ve all come through a tough time still close as a family.”

Michelle mentioned she’s speaking with a therapist who is getting to know her during this transition. Having someone to talk to is helping her process her thoughts and emotions.

Now that she’s out of public service, Michelle said she’s making all her decisions without needing to consider her children, her husband, or the country.

She added that therapy is like a “tune-up” for her—helping her let go of old habits, past guilt, and reflect on her relationship with her mother.

Michelle sees this new phase of life as a fresh start, and she’s embracing it with more wisdom. That’s why she believes it’s important to have support and guidance during times of change.

She encouraged others to seek help if they need it. “I support therapy,” she said. “Everyone should find the version of it that works for them.”

Recently, Michelle also cleared up rumors about her marriage during another podcast. When asked about the rumors, she laughed and said, “If Barack and I had issues, everyone would know.”
