Liverpool boss Arne Slot has explained why his team lost 3-1 to Chelsea in their Premier League clash on Sunday.
Chelsea’s win at Stamford Bridge was confirmed by a late penalty from Cole Palmer. Other goals came from Enzo Fernandez and an own goal by Liverpool’s Jarell Quansah. Virgil van Dijk scored Liverpool’s only goal.
Speaking after the match, Arne Slot said Liverpool weren’t aggressive enough in the final part of the pitch. He felt the players missed the small edge needed to score more goals against Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea side.
Slot acknowledged Chelsea’s strong performance, saying they were dangerous on counter-attacks and had many talented players. He also noted that even though Liverpool made some mistakes in defense, they managed to break through Chelsea’s play more often than they did earlier in the season.
Despite already being confirmed as Premier League champions after beating Tottenham on April 27, Slot reminded everyone that losing is never a good feeling. He quoted a wise saying: “Nothing good comes from losing a football game.”
