Afrobeats superstar Davido has spoken up about the recent arrest of social media personality VeryDarkMan, adding his voice to the growing number of people calling for his release.

VeryDarkMan, known for his bold opinions online, was taken into custody on Friday by Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). So far, the reason behind his arrest hasn’t been made public.

Before the arrest happened, VeryDarkMan had posted online that he was going to a GTBank branch in Abuja. He said he planned to report some suspicious money taken from his mother’s bank account.

Right now, it’s not clear whether he was arrested while still inside the bank or after he stepped outside.

His arrest has sparked different reactions across social media. Many internet users, including famous Nigerians, have spoken up and demanded that he be set free.

Among them is singer Davido, who shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter). In his post, Davido praised the support VeryDarkMan is receiving and said it shows that people notice and appreciate good deeds.

Davido wrote, “Outside all the noise it’s good to see that the good one does actually impacts lives and people actually appreciate! The support I’m seeing for VDM everywhere is encouraging, makes one want to do more for the masses. FREE MY GUY.”
