Two arrested as police foil bomb attack on Lady Gaga concert in Brazil

Two people were taken into custody after Brazilian police uncovered and stopped a bombing attempt at a Lady Gaga concert in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday night.

The authorities said the attack was being planned by a group that spreads hate speech and tries to influence teenagers with extreme views.

Police explained that the attackers were targeting LGBTQ+ people during Gaga’s massive concert on Copacabana Beach, which was attended by more than 2 million fans.

Felipe Cury, a top police official in Rio, said in a press briefing that the suspects had clearly stated they wanted to harm people at the concert because of their sexual orientation.

To prevent panic and misinformation, the police did not mention the suspected plot during the event.

There was tight security at the concert, with 5,200 police and military officers watching over the crowd. Fans came to enjoy Lady Gaga’s performance, including her song “Born This Way,” a favorite among the LGBTQ+ community since 2011.

Lady Gaga’s team responded after hearing about the plot in the news. A spokesperson said they had not been informed by police about any danger before or during the show.

The team added that they had worked closely with law enforcement during the event planning, and everyone felt confident that the concert was safe.
